Coffee Recipe | How To Make Cold Brew Coffee

First thing’s first. What is Cold Brew Coffee? Cold Brew Coffee is a concentrate of coffee made by saturating coarsely ground coffee beans in filtered water for 12 to 24 hours, which is then strained away leaving you with glorious and delicious Cold Brew Coffee concentrate.

What’s so great about Cold Brew Coffee? Well, many things:

1.) The brewing process produces a less acidic coffee versus traditional Iced Coffee

2.) It can be combined to concoct a number of fine coffee drinks, such as:

  • Over ice and diluted with filtered water – perfect for a summer time cool down
  • Over ice and diluted with milk – also perfect for a summer time cool down
  • Over ice and diluted with soda water – it’s called Coffee Soda, and yes, it is a thing
  • In delicious coffee cocktail recipes, like our Bourbon Iced Coffee Cocktail
  • Diluted with hot filtered water for a less acidic hot cup of coffee

3.) The concentrate is FULL of caffeine (in case you were looking for an extra boost)

4.) It’s delicious and all the rage right now

Cold Brew Coffee Recipe | What you’ll need:

  • A large container for the water and coffee grounds (Toddy Systems are ideal, however a french press or large bowl can do the trick as well!)
  • Filtered water (not distilled, not tap water)
  • A large fine-mesh strainer. We recommend a chinois style strainer. (If using a Toddy System or french press, this is not needed)
  • A 12oz bag of fair trade, organic Just Coffee Co-op Cold Brew Blend

1.) Stir 7.5 cups filtered water into 12 ounces of coarsely ground coffee, making sure that the grounds are evenly saturate

2.) Let sit at room temperature for at least 12 to 24 hours

3.) Strain through a fine-mesh strainer & refrigerate until completely chilled

4.) Mix with cold, filtered water or milk according to your taste preferences & enjoy!

Stored refrigerated and covered, undiluted Cold Brew Coffee concentrate can keep for up to two weeks.
