French press coffee, also known as cafetière or coffee plunger, is a simple and flavorful way to brew coffee at home. The process of making french press coffee is easy and only requires a few basic steps:
What you will need:
French Press (22 ounce for this walkthrough)
Scale (optional but recommended)
Hot Filtered Water - 660 grams at 200F
Fair Trade Organic coffee from Just Coffee - 36 grams ground to medium coarse
How To Brew:
Preheat French Press with hot water. Remove water after it is preheated.
Add Coffee to French Press. (If you have a scale, set the french press on the scale and zero it out.)
Start a timer and begin pouring 540 grams of hot water into the french press making sure to saturate the grounds completely.
Put the lid of the french press on top without pushing the plunger.
When your timer hits 2 minutes, take off the lid and stir the coffee to saturate the grounds a little more. Pour the remaining 120 grams of hot water into the pot and replace the lid.
At 4 minutes, press down the plunger slowly until it reaches the bottom of the pot.
